The National Meteorological Service (EMY) forecasts a dynamic weather shift across Greece this Wednesday, March 26, 2025, bringing increased cloud cover, scattered showers, and strong winds.

African dust is also expected to drift over parts of the country, while light snow may fall in the northwestern mountains.

According to EMY, the Ionian Sea, mainland Greece, and the northern Aegean will see intermittent rain throughout the day. Isolated thunderstorms could strike the Ionian islands and Epirus in the early morning hours. Winds from the southeast will blow at 4 to 6 Beaufort, reaching up to 7 Beaufort locally in the Ionian Sea. Temperatures will remain steady, peaking at 19°C in northern mainland areas, 21-23°C elsewhere, and climbing to 24-26°C in northern Crete and the Dodecanese.

The movement of African dust, carried by southern winds, may reduce visibility and leave a fine layer of particles across affected regions, a phenomenon familiar to Greeks during spring weather patterns.

What to Expect
While the snow will be limited to higher elevations in the northwest, the combination of rain, wind, and African dust could impact travel and outdoor plans. Residents are advised to stay updated, especially in areas prone to strong gusts or reduced visibility.

“March often brings these mixed conditions to Greece,” says meteorologist Stavros Dimitriou. “The African dust and winds are typical for this time of year, but the chance of snow in the mountains adds an extra twist.”
