Shocking details have emerged in the death of a 57-year-old homeless man outside a central Athens restaurant, with a forensic report revealing he suffered a heart attack and a neck fracture.

Video evidence shows restaurant employees dragging the man’s lifeless body onto the street, sparking an ongoing investigation.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the Romanian man experienced a heart attack and lost consciousness. The forensic examination identified a neck fracture and a head injury consistent with a fall down stairs, though authorities continue to probe the circumstances. The restaurant owner and two employees, aged 21 and 23, claim the man entered the premises to use the restroom and slipped on the stairs, leading to his fatal fall.

“I got a call from one of the boys saying, ‘Come quick.’ I rushed over, and he told me someone had fallen down the stairs inside,” the owner recounted. “We carried him outside to get some air—there was a lot of blood. I didn’t know he was dead; how could I have known?” He added, “I told them to clean the place because people were coming to eat. I had no idea it would turn into this mess.”

Disturbing Video Evidence

The video footage captures the grim scene: two employees—one holding the man’s arms, the other his legs—carry his bloodied body out of the restaurant and leave it on the sidewalk. They then re-enter the establishment and begin cleaning the area with bleach. The incident unfolded in broad daylight in a busy part of Athens, with passersby pausing in shock at the sight of the motionless man.

The owner and the two employees were arrested but later released with restrictive conditions. They face charges of negligent homicide as the case file develops.

The investigation continues to unravel the full story behind this tragic event, raising questions about accountability and the treatment of vulnerable individuals in one of Athens’ bustling districts.
