Avin International Ltd. and Kriti Ruby Special Maritime Enterprises, two Greek shipping companies, were fined $4.5 million for violating the Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships (APPS). Their vessel, the Kriti Ruby, illegally dumped oily waste into U.S. waters during port calls in Jacksonville and Newark. Additionally, two engineers received penalties, with one fined $5,000.
