Archaeologists from Selcuk University have uncovered stunning mosaics depicting aquatic animals in the ancient city of Herakleia, located in Turkey’s Muğla Province. 6th Century Byzantine Church Discovered in Northern Evia

A 6th-century Byzantine basilica was discovered in Oreoi, northern Evia, during recent excavations for a sewage system. The find includes the church’s foundation, apse, and brick-lined floor, along with artifacts such as iron crosses and a bronze lamp ring. This significant discovery sheds light on the religious history of the region, once part of the diocese under the Metropolis of Corinth.

The Egyptian archaeological mission operating in the Mir archaeological area in Al-Qusiya, in Assiut, revealed parts of buildings dating to the Byzantine era and a number of burials from the Late Period (around 600-300 BC).

A few days earlier, the joint archaeological mission between the Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Italian National Research Council – Institute for Ancient Mediterranean Studies (CNR) – operating at the Tell Al-Maskhouta site in Ismailia governorate succeeded in uncovering a large group of pots and amphorae dating back to the late and Greco-Roman eras.
