Greece’s Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA) has imposed a €40,000 fine on the ruling New Democracy party for failing to protect the personal data of Greeks living abroad, following the “email-gate” scandal. The investigation was initiated after former MEP Anna-Michelle Asimakopoulou was accused of sending unsolicited emails to expatriates before the European Parliament elections. Additionally, two former ND officials were fined for leaking a voter list, while the Ministry of Interior faced a €400,000 fine.
