Uber Technologies announced the expansion of its “Uber Boat” service in Greece, extending from Mykonos to Athens, Corfu, and Santorini. Starting in July, this service will allow visitors to travel to beach clubs and reach remote areas, catering to the increased demand from international tourists. Additionally, Uber will launch “Uber Yacht” in Ibiza and a “limo boat” service in Venice to further enhance its water-transport offerings across Europe.

In 2023, Greece led the EU in water transport employment with 49,200 people working in the sector, representing 16.6% of the EU total. Italy followed with 41,200 employees, with both countries accounting for nearly a third of the EU’s water transport workforce. The sector was predominantly male, with men comprising 79% of the workforce.
