The incredible attack of a journalist against a technician during a live television broadcast caused a stir and strong reactions in Turkey.

In particular, the journalist Muharrem Sarikaya of Habertürk TV attacked a technician of the Turkish news agency İHA, hitting him and banishing him by force.

The victim was trying to solve a technical problem when Sarikaya suddenly got angry, hit the technician with his hand and the headphones he was holding - and shortly after expelled him.

For her part, Gaziantep Mayor Fatma Şahin, who was invited, showed apathy.

After the incident that took place live on air, the journalist apologised via Twitter.

"During the live broadcast we did with the mayor of Gaziantep, Ms. Fatma Şahin, I lost for a moment control due to repeated technical problems and behaved in a way that does not fit me," he wrote on Twitter.

"As soon as the show was over, I apologized separately to Ahmet Demir and to Orhan Akın, the İHA regional director, who was there," Sarikaya added.

He then apologised through his post.

For her part, the mayor wrote in her own profile that the journalist's reaction was "very wrong, as he himself said."

"We talked to each other afterwards and I expressed my opinion to him . As he wrote, he apologised to the man," Şahin concluded.
