An incident of domestic violence took an unexpected turn last night in the Cretan city of Heraklion.
The alleged perpetrator, immediately after the fight with his wife, was taken to the hospital after swallowing bleach.
According to what police sources told ERT, it all started with a verbal incident involving a 55-year-old woman and her 59-year-old husband.
The wife said that the 59-year-old abused and threatened her. However, under unspecified circumstances, after the fight, the 59-year-old swallowed a quantity of bleach and had to be taken to the Venizelio Hospital, where he remains hospitalised.
According to sources, fortunately, he remains out of danger and is expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
