Chocolate eggs and tsourekia with political messages became popular this Easter as well, and opposition party PASOK certainly did not miss out.

A PASOK chocolate egg was chosen by the president of the party, Nikos Androulakis. In fact, he made sure to upload a related photo on Instagram as well.

These days the president of PASOK is in his hometown of Crete. On his personal Instagram account, he shares snapshots from the island as well as the island's Easter customs, while in his post he wishes "Happy New Year to everyone with health and prosperity! Christ is Risen!".

Androulakis highlighted the importance of supporting younger generations in his message for Easter Sunday, stressing that the country can only make progress if young people are supported.

"This year's Easter is different for all of us after the loss of 57 of our fellow human beings that lost their lives so unfairly at Tempi," he said, adding that nothing can be the same after the tragedy.

"Let the light of the resurrection signal a truly new start," Androulakis said, emphasising the obligation to support those living in uncertainty, insecurity and fearful of the future and who are constantly faced with social inequality and exclusion from an equitable and sustainable growth.

He said this required bold decisions focused on those deprived of the services of a good quality public health system and whose children were let down by a downgraded education system.
