Samos at the top of the Greek destinations for Swedes

Kokkari, Samos

Samos comes first in the preferences of Swedish travellers according to Sweden's largest magazine, Vagabond.

In the annual list of recommended Greek islands for 2023, the island of Pythagoras takes the top spot, followed by Patmos, Ikaria, Mykonos, Amorgos and Sifnos.

The established travel medium of Scandinavia urges thousands of lovers of Greece to visit the welcoming port of Pythagoras, the birthplace of the mathematician Pythagoras, from where they will take the boat to Samiopoula, which charms with its soft sand and sparkling blue waters.

In order to "taste" a bit of Greek everyday life, the medium even suggests that visitors choose the bus to go to Vathi to enjoy Greek coffee and play backgammon in a picturesque café.

"For Scandinavian travelers, Samos is considered one of the most favorite destinations, as can be seen from this year's traffic.

We promote the destination for the different experiences it offers", explains the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Eastern Samos, Despina Kaila.

Vathy, Samos

In the context of the targeted program of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) office of Scandinavia and in consultation with the Municipality of Eastern Samos, information about the destination was preceded by major media such as Vagabond.

In fact, the enchanting island of the North Aegean was distinguished in the same period in another list of the same medium here.

In the new list of the five "hidden precious gems" of island Greece, Samos "steals" the impressions as the birthplace of many famous philosophers and scientists such as the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, the philosopher Epicurus and the astronomer Aristarchus of Samos who was the first to postulate that the earth revolves around the sun.
