Olympiacos will take legal action against the 21-year-old fan who threw the flare in the derby

Olympiacos

At noon on Tuesday, November 7, the police announced that the fan who threw the firecracker in the Olympiacos - Panathinaikos derby was identified.

On October 22, a flare thrown by a fan of the Piraeus club injured Panathinaikos player Juankar, ending the derby at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium prematurely.

For its part, Olympiacos will take legal action against the flare thrower. The club had issued a statement saying that such behaviour will not be tolerated, and this particular person will be banned from entering the stadium for life.

The throwing of the flare caused the stoppage of the top match with the initial decision of the sports justice awarding the game in favour of Panathinaikos, deducting a point from the offending club and punishing them with a 2-game ban from its home ground and a 38,000 euro fine.

West Ham vs Olympiacos

West Ham are under pressure to win Thursday night’s meeting with Olympiacos in the Europa League. While David Moyes has turned the Hammers into a seasoned outfit in continental competition, last month’s defeat in Greece ended their 17-match unbeaten run in Europe.

As a result, they lead Group A but are level on points with Freiburg.

The Greek side, meanwhile, are only two points behind, putting big pressure on an inconsistent Irons side who did not cover themselves in glory at Brentford on Saturday.

West Ham vs Olympiacos is scheduled for an 8pm local time kick-off time on Thursday 9 November, 2023. The London Stadium will host.

Kurt Zouma missed West Ham’s loss to Brentford on Saturday and remains a major doubt. Edson Alvarez and Lucas Paqueta, however, are both available after Premier League suspensions.

For the away side, Andreas Ntoi is free from suspension but Athanasios Androutsos and Nicolas Freire are injured.
