Marriott's Luxury Collection Expands to Greece's Idyllic Patmos Island with Patmos Aktis Resort & Spa Agreement

Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa

Following an extensive refurbishment of Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa, the newly reimagined resort, Patmos Aktis, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Greece, is set to open its doors in the summer of 2024 and be the only luxury resort on Patmos.

This establishment will stand as the sole luxury resort on the serene island of Patmos, celebrated for its scenic coastline and spiritual ambience.

Inspired by the island's rich heritage, Patmos Aktis, a Luxury Collection Resort and spa in Greece, will provide a timeless sanctuary situated in the tranquil beauty of Grikos Bay. The extensive renovations, overseen by Stylianidis Vaggelis Architects and Anastassiadis Architecture & Design, will encompass all 56 guestrooms, suites, and villas. In 2025, additional guestrooms are planned to be added. The resort will feature a signature restaurant serving local island delicacies with a contemporary twist and a bar and terrace offering breathtaking bay views. Plefsis Tavern, a traditional Greek taverna on the beach, will embrace authentic Dodecanese cuisine enhanced by design elements inspired by its seafront location. The rejuvenated Spa is set to offer guests revitalizing rituals and signature treatments designed to detoxify the mind and relax the body, echoing the island's spiritual energy. Each guest's wellness journey will include a welcoming drink infused with soothing rose petals and a range of beauty treatments featuring rose essence products.

The interior design concept, led by Patricia Anastassiadis, will seamlessly blend The Luxury Collection's authentic and experiential luxury standards with the simplicity of Patmos Aktis. The resort will feature a soothing colour palette of creams, whites, and soft blue tones, and it will incorporate local artwork and traditional Greek design touches, paying homage to the island's heritage and its unique landscape.

Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International, commented, "Greece continues to be an extremely desirable leisure destination for our global explorers. Bringing The Luxury Collection to the idyllic island of Patmos on the Dodecanese further cements the brand’s leadership in luxury hospitality while providing our guests access to a captivating and relatively undiscovered destination to experience authentic Greece. We’re excited to be working with the owners of this beautiful resort to bring this project to life."

Set against a backdrop of traditional fishing villages and secluded coves, Patmos' rugged coastline offers the perfect setting for complete relaxation, fostering a deep connection with the sea and the island's natural beauty. At Patmos Aktis, guests can explore the unique volcanic landscape, partake in market tours and cooking classes, and learn the secrets of Greek cuisine, or spend the day sailing between beaches and the nearby Arkoi islands for swimming and picnicking.

Nick Karamouzis, Chairman of the Investment Fund SMERemediumCap (SMERC) and Owners of Patmos Aktis expressed, "The opening of Patmos Aktis, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Greece, will mark an important milestone for Patmos Island and a strategic triumph for the hotel. By aligning Patmos Aktis Suites & Spa with an internationally renowned luxury brand, we look forward to seeing the elevation of the reputation of Patmos as a luxury tourist destination and ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of the local economy. In cooperation with Ad Hoc Hospitality Consultants, we are extremely proud to contribute to enriching our cultural heritage and look forward to this new era for Patmos."
