King Charles wore a tie with the Greek flag in his meeting with Sunak - A subtle message?

"A picture is worth a thousand words," says an old Chinese proverb, and as much as it is now considered a cliché in journalism, only this can describe the snapshot captured in Dubai during the Cop28 climate meeting with the tie with the Greek flag worn by King Charles III next to Rishi Sunak.

Just a few days after the uproar caused in Great Britain and Greece by Rishi Sunak's unfair treatment of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, King Charles III appeared to take a stand by choosing an obvious message, perhaps much stronger than any statement.

In particular, King Charles, who is in Dubai for the World Climate Summit during COP28, had a short meeting with Rishi Sunak. Nothing surprising, one would say, since there are dozens of leaders worldwide at this meeting.

The clothing choice, however, of the king of Great Britain, to wear a tie with the Greek flag, something he has done before (and wearing blue and white), could well be interpreted as a gesture of support for our country against the background of both the controversy for the Parthenon Sculptures as well as after the indecent move of the British Prime Minister to cancel the planned meeting he had with Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the Greek Prime Minister's visit to London.

This move seemed a fuse for the British media, who did not miss an opportunity to launch a relentless criticism of Mr Sunak. From the dozens of articles that characterised him as a "petulent child" against the backdrop of the unfairness to Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the poor polling performance of the Tories and his marginalisation at the Climate Summit in Dubai, Rishi Sunak in the last hours in a circle of criticism from which he can hardly escape.

The Daily Mail deconstructs Sunak: He says Britain is a climate leader, and at COP28, they put him behind Rama, too!

At the same time, as the British Daily Mail writes, Sunak rejected warnings that the United Kingdom's reputation has been damaged by the review of the government's Net Zero strategy, as he said the country could go high.

In fact, they even highlighted Sunak was left behind in the leaders' photo at the conference this morning, putting him behind the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.

As head of state, King Charles was in the front row of the group next to French President Emmanuel Macron. The monarch gave a keynote address on the environment, an issue he has campaigned on for decades.

But Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel were more prominently positioned in the middle.

As said, however, the tie with the Greek flag is not the first time that it has appeared in an activity of the King of Great Britain, and even wore it in his meeting with the South Koreans.
