Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport reached 2 million in March 2024, marking a 20.1% increase compared to March 2023 levels, according to official data.
Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2023 levels, with increases of 12.6% and 23.5%, respectively.
Overall, in the first three months of the year, the airport saw a total of 5.2 million passengers, representing a 16.5% increase. Domestic and international passenger traffic also saw increases, with 10.3% and 19.4%, respectively.
The number of flights at Athens International Airport during the first three months of 2024 reached 46,334, marking a 12.8% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Domestic flights and international flights saw rises of 6.5% and 17.5%, respectively, compared to 2023.
Meanwhile, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels reports that over 32.73 million tourists visited Greece in 2023.
Recent data from the Bank of Greece (BoG) revealed that the travel balance experienced a surplus of 112.6 million euros in January 2024, with travel receipts increasing by 27.1%. Inbound travel traffic also increased by 16.0%.
