In an announcement today, Jean-Francois Martins, president of the Eiffel Tower's operating company (SETE), revealed that the iconic Paris landmark will feature the Olympic rings for the upcoming Paris Games.

The installation of the rings on the tower is scheduled to commence at the end of the month, following the departure of the Olympic torch from ancient Olympia in Greece. Positioned on the Seine side of the tower, the rings are expected to be a prominent symbol of the event's spirit and unity.

Highlighting the significance of the Eiffel Tower in the Paris Olympics, Martins emphasised that it will serve as a focal point for various competitions. Notably, it will mark the 38-kilometre point of the marathon route, showcasing the convergence of athleticism and architectural grandeur. Additionally, the base of the tower will host the beach volleyball event, further integrating the Games with the city's iconic landmarks.

In another nod to Parisian charm, the Olympic flame will find its place at the Jardin des Tuileries, situated near the renowned Louvre museum. This strategic placement aims to infuse the Games with the city's rich cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes.

The Paris Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, promising a blend of sporting excellence and cultural celebration against the backdrop of one of the world's most beloved cities.
