Greece's coastguard reported on Sunday that they have recovered the body of one migrant and successfully rescued 25 others after their boat sank near the island of Samos. The search continues for at least four more individuals believed to be missing in the incident.
The rescued migrants have been safely transported to a port facility on Samos as efforts persist to locate those still unaccounted for. A coastguard official, speaking anonymously, confirmed the ongoing search and rescue operation.
In a separate incident, Greek authorities intercepted a speedboat carrying migrants off the coast of Chios on Saturday. After a pursuit, they discovered 20 migrants, including two children, who had landed on Chios.
