The Municipality of Athens has launched a school supply distribution initiative to support families facing financial difficulties.
Through the Reception and Solidarity Centre of the Municipality (KYADA), the program aims to ensure that no primary or secondary school child starts the new school year without the necessary materials.
Mayor Haris Doukas, present at the Citizens' Mutual Aid Hub on September 10, emphasised the importance of caring for vulnerable children, stating, "Solidarity is our main priority. We want every child to start this school year with a smile." He thanked citizens for their donations and encouraged further participation.
The initiative will distribute school bags, notebooks, stationery, and more to 1,770 students, with distributions continuing until September 20, 2024, and extended as needed. The Municipality has invited citizens to contribute school supplies to help ensure every child is ready for the new academic year.
Interested donors can contact KYADA or drop off supplies at designated locations from Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 15:00.
