A worrying incident occurred on Thursday morning, March 6, in Alexandria, Imathia, when a student was struck by a passing train while attempting to cross the tracks.

The train, which was traveling from Thessaloniki, dragged the student as he tried to reach the opposite side of the road, where his school is located.

According to initial reports from ERT, the student, enrolled at the local EPAL (Vocational High School), lost consciousness after being hit. Eyewitnesses have raised concerns about the lack of proper safety measures at the crossing, noting that there has been no barrier or traffic light at the spot for several years.

Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, and an ambulance arrived to transport the student to a nearby hospital for treatment.

This incident has sparked further questions about the safety of rail crossings in the area, with local residents and authorities urged to take immediate action to prevent future accidents.
