This group of parliamentarians is the second set of Greek officials to visit Australia in 2025, following 14 members of the Greek Presidential Guard, the Evzones, who will arrive for ANZAC Week commemorations. The Evzones will participate in events across Sydney and Adelaide from April 28th to May 4th, emphasizing the deep historical ties between Greece and Australia, especially through the shared ANZAC legacy.

The Greek MPs scheduled to attend the Sydney celebrations include:

  • Stavros Keletsi, MP of Evros ND (Head of the delegation)
  • Athanasios Papathanasis, MP of Aitoloakarnania ND
  • Stefanos Parastatidis, MP of Kilkis PASOK-KINAL
  • Dr. Miltiadis Zambaras, MP of Aitoloakarnania SYRIZA-PS

While in Sydney, the delegation will meet with key figures, including Archbishop Makarios of Australia, prominent Greek community leaders, and state ministers and MPs of Greek descent. They will also hold a press conference for Greek community media at the Consulate General (219-223 Castlereagh St, Sydney 2000) on Thursday, March 27th, at 11 a.m.

The visit underscores Greece’s enduring connection with Australia, which is celebrated through national pride and shared history.
