Greece Named Best Tourism Destination 2025 for Fifth Consecutive Year

Greece has once again been recognised as the Best Tourism Destination for 2025 at the Global Traveler - GT Tested Reader Survey Awards, marking an exceptional fifth consecutive year at the top of the prestigious global ranking.

The award, determined by votes from Global Traveler readers, reflects sustained international confidence in Greece as a leading destination for leisure, culture, gastronomy and hospitality. Securing the top position five years in a row places Greece among a very small group of destinations worldwide to demonstrate such consistent global appeal.

Konstantinos Charokopos, Director for the United States and Canada at the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) New York City Office, shared the news about this milestone in a public statement on his social media pages.

“Reaching the top is an achievement. Staying there for five years in a row is a rare distinction,” Charokopos said. “It requires consistency, long-term strategy, strong partnerships, and relentless hard work.”

He added that maintaining Greece’s position as the world’s leading tourism destination is both demanding and deeply significant, particularly given the competitive global travel landscape.

“This recognition reflects the collective effort behind the Greek tourism product – the people, the destinations, the hospitality, and the continuous commitment to quality and excellence,” he said.

The Global Traveler GT Tested Reader Survey Awards are regarded as a key benchmark within the international travel industry, drawing on the opinions of frequent and experienced travellers, particularly from the North American market. Greece’s continued dominance underscores its strong performance across both established and emerging tourism sectors, from island travel and cultural tourism to luxury, gastronomy and experiential travel.

Charokopos said the recognition carries both pride and responsibility as Greece looks ahead.

“We move forward with pride, responsibility, and renewed determination to keep Greece at the very top of travellers’ choices worldwide.”

The latest accolade further cements Greece’s position as one of the world’s most consistently admired travel destinations, reinforcing its reputation for timeless heritage, natural beauty and enduring hospitality.
