Marina Satti will represent our country in the Eurovision 2024 contest, as it became known on Tuesday, October 24.

Shortly after announcing her participation in Eurovision 2024, Marina Satti spoke to the show "Elene" about her childhood, double origin, and music involvement.

Initially, regarding her involvement in singing, she stated: "I was born in Athens and grew up in Crete. I came to study architecture, but I started working with music, with theatre at some point.

"Music fills me and allows me to introduce myself and express myself better."

Then, regarding her family, she commented: "My dad is from Sudan, and my mum is from Greece. This was present in my life from early on and with the different languages in the house, the music and the recipes, the trips we made, and the people we met."

She added: "The first years at school, I attended an English school that also taught Arabic. My parents had decided that I should learn my dad's language, and all my classmates were from all over the world; they spoke all languages.

"I had a friend from Saudi Arabia, and then I had another friend whose dad was Bulgarian. Very recently, I realised the connection; I see that I try to reproduce it and bring it into my life; it matters; I think it's the spices you need in your life."

Satti continued: "From Sudan, I have kept the bright colours, and from Greece, the standards of my mum and my grandmother, who are very dynamic women and they were very persistent in their goals with what they put in.

"I have too many years since going to Sudan. My dad, because my parents are divorced, now lives in Sudan. So we only meet when he comes here. We also talk on the phone.

"I have a little sister from my dad's new marriage; she is 14 years old. We talk often. She is proud of me and says she has a singer-sister."

Finally, regarding the concerts she performs abroad, she said: "The language of music is the strongest language. We see people who don't speak Greek dancing and enjoying it with us. I feel very lucky that we are experiencing all this."
