Less than 1% of TripAdvisor's 8 million listings are awarded Best of the Best, which represents the highest level of excellence in travel.
This year, travellers' choice destinations span 7 Lists: Top Destinations, Trendy Destinations, Natural Scenery Destinations, Dining Destinations, Cultural Destinations, Honeymoon Destinations and Sustainability Destinations. In all the Lists, there is the global ranking, while in some, there is a sub-ranking for Europe, the USA, or other wider geographical areas.
Greece has a presence on the Top Destinations, Best Food Destinations, Best Culture Destinations and Best Honeymoon Destinations Lists.
Crete among the top destinations in the world for travel and dining in 2024
In detail, on the list of the top 25 destinations in the world for 2024, Crete was ranked 9th. In the European List of the top 25 destinations, Crete ranked 4th, Santorini 14th and Athens 18th.
Dubai emerged on the world list as the top destination for 2024 and on the European list, London.
In the list of the 25 best destinations in the world for food, Crete took the 3rd place and Athens the 15th place. In the European List, which registered ten destinations, Crete took the 2nd place and Athens the 8th place.
Hanoi was found in the 1st place on the List of the best destinations in the world for food, while Rome was in the 1st place on the European List.
In the list of the top 25 destinations in the world for culture, Athens was ranked 5th, while Cuba was ranked 1st.
In the top 25 honeymoon destinations, Santorini took 8th place, while Bali took 1st place.
Tokyo was ranked #1 in the world's top 25 trendy destinations. Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, was ranked 1st in the 25 best destinations for natural scenery. Copenhagen was ranked 1st in the Top 15 Sustainability Destinations List.
