Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, has put forward a proposal at the Informal Meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Brussels. Dendias suggested that the Headquarters (HQ) in Larissa should become the central command of the EU Operation "ASPIDES" in the Red Sea region.

Furthermore, Greece expressed its readiness to assume command of the Operation. The proposal received a positive response from Dendias' counterparts, highlighting growing support for Greece's involvement in the Operation. Larissa's strategic location and Greece's military capabilities make it an ideal choice for leading and coordinating the Operation.
