Artemios Mintzas Faces Court Over Croydon Park Shooting

Artemios Mintzas, 60, faced court for the first time on October 7, 2025, charged with 18 counts of shooting with intent to murder after allegedly firing up to 50 bullets at random people in Croydon Park, Sydney, on Sunday night. The incident led to a lockdown and injured over a dozen, with one man in serious condition. A dispute over his legal representation delayed proceedings, but Mintzas confirmed Dymphna Hawkins as his lawyer. He is due back in court in December.

New South Wales premier, Gladys Berejiklian has announced a two-week lockdown starting at 6pm tonight, Saturday 26 June that will remain in place until midnight on Friday 9th July.  Residents of greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong are not permitted to leave their homes unless it is for one of four essential reasons.
