Olympian, Emmanuel Karalis who placed fourth in the men’s pole vault at the Tokyo Olympic Games 2021, has opened a wine bar ‘Angelo et Manolo’ in the centre of Athens.
“I am very happy to announce that my off track ventures continue with the opening of my own wine bar in the centre of Athens “Angelo et Manolo” at Mitropoleos 38!!” tweeted 22 year old Karalis earlier this week, sharing a photo of his new venue.
“Angelo et Manolo was made as a reminder that people become what they dream of!” the young athlete announced.
“The first Greek black-owned wine bar from two kids that love wine and cheese, by Angelo & Manolo!”
“Open every day from 12-12 for a glass – or bottle – of wine with cheeses and cold cuts, for one carefree stop in the centre of Athens.”

Last year, Karalis (aka Manolo) finished tied for fourth place in the men’s pole vault at the Tokyo Olympics, exceeding the 5m80 mark and proving to be a serious contender against his components in a competition where Sweden’s Armand Duplantis won gold.
Consistently breaking records throughout his fledgling career, the Greek pole vaulter reached for new heights every day.
‘Angelo et Manolo’ is not the first business venue for the young athlete, who launched a new brand of premium street wear made in Greece – ‘FlyManoloFly’ last year.
“FMF my life motto,” Karalis told Greek City Times in May of 2021.
“It stands for FlyManoloFly and describes something I keep saying to myself over and over again. It describes my need to always move forward, to constantly progress…my need to fly.”
“I believe we are all born with it. With invisible ‘wings’ that, even if we forget are there, if we believe it, they make us fly.”
Karalis’s new wine bar ‘Angelo et Manolo‘ is located at Mitropoleos 38A, Athina 105 63, Greece.
