Air fryer fries: The trick to making them super crispy

air fryer fries

Air fryers help make life easier in the kitchen. They are easy to use and produce tasty dishes.

Have you tried making French fries in the air fryer? Obviously, the result is not the same as that of the frypan, but it is quite close. At the same time, it is lighter, healthier, and more economical.

If you're wondering how to achieve the perfect air fryer fries, we have the secret. It requires an extra step and a little extra cooking time to calculate, but the result is worth it!

Before baking

The trick is simple. After cleaning, washing, and cutting the potatoes, put them in a glass bowl instead of directly in the air fryer. Pour hot water into the bowl and leave them inside for about half an hour.

After half an hour has passed, strain the water. The time has come to marinate them. Use a little olive oil, salt, and as many spices as you want. Oregano and paprika, especially smoked, go great with potatoes.

Also, add some cayenne pepper to the mixture if you like spicier flavours. You can also use herbs, such as thyme or rosemary.

After marinating the potatoes well with olive oil, salt, and spices, place them in the preheated air fryer.

During baking

Bake for 30 minutes at about 200°C (the temperature varies depending on the model you have at home, so look carefully at the instructions before using your fryer).

And here is a secret that gives potatoes more crispness: frequent turning. To get a consistent result, shake the fryer every five minutes.

Our crispy potatoes are ready to be enjoyed either plain or as an accompaniment to some protein.
