More than Half of Greece Streamed TV or Videos for Viewing

In 2022, over half of Greece engaged in streaming TV or videos online, according to Eurostat. That percentage increased overall amongst EU viewers, with 65% of viewing content being streamed into households.

In 24 out of 27 EU countries, more than half of individuals aged 16-74 used the internet to watch streamed TV or videos. Finland boasted the highest share at 93%, followed by the Netherlands (90%) and Denmark (89%).

At the other end of the range, 34% of individuals in Romania streamed TV or videos online, 40% in Bulgaria and nearly 50% in Slovakia.

In 2022, internet streaming habits revealed a generational divide within the EU. Online streaming was particularly popular among young people, with 86% of individuals aged 16 to 24 years and 81% of those aged 25 to 34 years using the internet to stream TV or videos.

Conversely, as age increased, there was a decline in the number of individuals engaged in online streaming. Among people aged 55 to 64 years, 52% used the internet for streaming, while only 33% of those aged 65 to 74 years did the same.
