Costa Gavras is a renowned Greek-French film director, screenwriter, and producer, celebrated for his political thrillers and his ability to merge controversial political issues with commercial cinema. Born on February 12, 1933, in Loutra Iraias, Greece, Gavras moved to France to study literature at the Sorbonne and later film at the Institut des Hautes Études Cinématographiques (IDHEC).
