Athens to Host the 39th European Film Awards in January 2027

Athens will make history as the first city in southeastern Europe to host the prestigious European Film Awards on **January 16, 2027**. This landmark event, spearheaded by the Hellenic Centre for Cinema, Audiovisual Media, and Creation (EKKOMED) with strong support from Greece’s Ministries of Culture, National Economy, and Tourism, will highlight the Greek film industry’s growing prominence and showcase Athens as a hub for European culture and creativity.

Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes to Attend 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival

Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes will attend the 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival from October 31 to November 10. The actors will be honoured with the Golden Alexander award during a special screening of The English Patient, the 1996 film that won Binoche an Oscar and earned Fiennes a nomination. The festival will also feature their latest collaboration, The Return, a Greek co-production directed by Uberto Pasolini, where they portray Odysseus and Penelope.
