FASTING RECIPE: Seafood Fricassee

Seafood Fricassee fasting

Fricassee with seafood in a lemony light flour sauce is loved by young and old alike and is also a great fasting dish.

Materials for 4-5 servings:

500 gr. mixed seafood (cuttlefish, calamari, mussels and shrimps)
500 gr. Chard, chopped
One leek, chopped
One onion, chopped
Three spring onions, finely chopped
Four tsp. parsley, chopped
Four tsp. dill, chopped
50 ml extra virgin olive oil
One tablespoon of flour
Juice of 2 lemons
salt and pepper

Procedure

Step 1

In a saucepan, sauté the onions and leeks with olive oil for a few minutes; add only the cuttlefish and calamari from the seafood and continue sauteing for a few more minutes.

Step 2

Add about 300 ml of water or as much as it will take to boil and soften the seafood. As soon as they are ready, add the chard, herbs, salt and pepper and, if necessary, add additional hot water. Simmer for about 15 minutes.

Step 3

When the food is ready, add the shrimp and mussels and continue cooking for a few minutes. Mix the flour with the lemon juice and pour over the fricassee. Stir and remove from heat.

Step 4

Serve with extra lemon if desired.
